It’s been over a month since I wrote a post, so I’m just gonna write what I’ve been up to and what I am up to.

I bought an Ipod Nano (3rd generation), black, 8gb and the Nike+ runners kit (check out the sidebar and the Nike widget showing my last runs). Note: Okay, it really stands out with the colors and all, but thought it was pretty cool anyway. Maybe I’ll do something about the color theme of my blog in the nearest future.

I’ve been sort of busy with school and work the last couple of weeks. I’m currently working on a pretty big paper about market segmentation on the financial market. I feel like I got a pretty good start, although I’m having some difficulties with motivating myself to write, but I’m sure it’ll come.

In music I’m currently listening a lot to Radiohead - In Rainbows, which I think is genius. You should check this link out btw: http://puddlegum.net/radiohead-01-and-10/ - it’s a post about the two Radiohead albums ‘OK Computer’ and ‘In Rainbows’ mystically linked together. I saw someone describing it as Radiohead meets ‘The Da Vinci Code’. Interesting stuff actually!

A beautiful day

Today is such a beautiful day, and as I had the most of the day off (school is first at ten minutes to four), I decided to drop by my grandparent’s cemetary plot, which is located within a quarter of a mile from me. I brought my camera and by taking an intentional detour this is some of the things I met. I’m pretty satisfied with the pictures, but please note that they are best at their full size, so don’t get fooled by those clumsy thumbnails I made

New Radiohead album the 10th of October!

Struggling myself through this dull and quite uninspiring day these news really found a new place for me to rest my mind (a nicer place that is). Radiohead will be coming out with a new album on the 10th of October. The title of the album is “In Rainbows”. The cool thing about this is the business model they are using for this release.

First of all they are releasing this with only ten days notice
Second, they have announced two types of media on which this album is being released; as digital download and as a discbox (which includes artwork and a second disc, where the digital download only includes one)
The cost of the digital download is optional (you decide the price!)
The price of the discbox is £40

So I found this site that creates a cloud of recommended music artists based on what I’ve “scrobbled” in Last.fm. I’m already listening to some of the artists recommended, but I might give some of them a try. I’ve read about Broken Social Scene and Bloc Party, but somehow I do not quite know how to get started listening to them. Maybe I should just give it a go! A few months back I stumbled over “Urban Dictionary”. It is really useful for finding the meanings behind new slang, and particularly useful for foreigners to explore English expressions and words you might have heard mentioned sometime, but never really understood. Sometimes you might know how and when to use the expressions in question, but perhaps you just want to explore its background or true relevance.

An example could be the highly embedded expression: “I second that”. Query Urban Dictionary and you’ll get:

The slang meaning is “I agree” or “I support that”.

The real meaning comes from parliamentary procedure, the way in which a group of people come together and most efficiently present and discuss possible courses of action, and make decisions. “Roberts Rules of Order” has been the standard of our government, judicial system, and formal organizations since 1876.

The obstacle of well-meaning secrets

Oh, I just can’t stand secrets! Sometimes I feel forced into complying with a time-limited secret, in order to help some of my closests. Most often, these secrets are well-intended, hence the time-limit. One example could be keeping a secret about a person for a few days, as a means to surprise this person at a later time. Take a surprise party - the most obvious example of a well-meant secret. I wouldn’t eliminate surprise parties completely (even if I actually had the chance), but just let surprise parties have the exclusive right for secrets with a good intention, because this is the only time that a secret can be useful.
And as for any other kind of secret:

Why do we always have to harm others to feel good about ourselves?

Michel Gondry is a french director, probably best known for the brilliant “Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind” and the mysterious “The Science of Sleep”, both blending reality and science-fiction, both being kept at a level, at which the viewer can truly identify himself with the characters and their stories. The two movies contain so much depth, and especially “ESOTSM” is highly acclaimed - very well deserverd imo! Check it out if you haven’t already!

Well, almost got carried away there! The post was supposed to be about Michel Gondry’s new movie, “Be Kind, Rewind”. Gondry is is giving the comedy genre a try, and it doesn’t seem bad at all! Check out for yourself below!
